AceRacer
A downloadable game
AceRacer is a game that lets you race through procedurally generated tracks. It's an Unreal Engine racer that combines precision, competition, and replayability. I integrated Steam and Epic SDKs - my hand-crafted leaderboard system lets you compare times with friends, while an advanced replay feature allows you to study your best runs and shave off those final milliseconds.
Solo-dev-project created for the Epic Megajam 2025.
Because of stupid bug login with epic account is REQUIRED
Alternative: Shut down steam, that puts the game in offline-mode
Infos:
Everything SHOULD be controllable via controller.
Epic might flag this app as unknown source - if you can't/won't log-in, my online-leaderboard probably doesn't work. I have a custom MySQL server with endpoints set up for leaderboards.
I had to make it a dev-build as epic doesn't seem to include the online-sdks in shipping-builds.
I'm unhappy with the engine sound 😅
Controls:
| Action | Keyboard | Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Throttle | W | Right Trigger |
| Brake | S | Left Trigger |
| Handbrake | Left Shift | FaceButton Left |
| Drift (hold) | Spacebar | FaceButton Bottom |
| Steering | A & D | Left Thumbstick |
| Go to last Checkpoint / Quick-reset | R | FaceButton Right |
| Reset run | Backspace | Special Left |
| Pause game | Escape | Special Right |
External Assets/Resources:
Used some Lyra content (button-materials, inputaction-widgets, some of the logic, some of the multiplayer-connection logic, pawn-management, experience-management, ui-rootLayout-management). I also took the button-sound from one of my previous projects, so that wasn't fresh-made.
I also used my (previously made) custom implementation of VaRest (for rest-communication with my leaderboard-servers).Everything else is done by myself. No textures are used, all shader-logic.
The vehicle is based on Chaos-Physics.
